Ultra Filtration Plant are treatment plants where a semipermeable membrane is used to separate impurities from water and produce potable water. The membrane is capable of separating microorganisms, particulate matter, bacteria, organic substance etc. to produce water of desired quality. A hydrostatic pressure is applied across the membrane which separates the water from impurities. It can be used as a standalone system or can be integrated with other types of treatment systems.

After going through this process, water is completely free from dissolved minerals. Minerals can be removed by any one of the process including Distillation of water, de-ionization process, membrane based filtration like reverse osmosis, electrolysis etc.
