Pit type Weighbridge consists of a sturdy and strong mild steel platform which safeguards against lateral and sway movements of the vehicles.

Pit type weighbridge with concrete platform as against steel offers many advantages and as a result most of the truck weighing scale in developed countries are installed with concrete platform. With ever-rising steel prices, it makes great economic sense to install concrete platform system.

The difference between each truck scale is relatively simple. A pit type weighbridge is exactly that, a system that sits in a pit. All of the mechanisms, wiring, and load cells reside underground, allowing the weighing surface to be completely level with the ground.

A surface mounted weighig system simply sits on top of the ground. It requires ramps for vehicles to drive on top of the platform.

It can have MS Steel platform or RCC Concrete Platform. It requires lesser space and is long lasting. These are available from 10 T upto 150 T with load cell ranging from 4 to 10 load cells.

Pit type Weighbridge is preferable when there is space constraint as it requires lesser space as compared to surface mounted. The concrete or steel frames are at the ground level in case of a pit type and hence there is no or negligible requirements of approaching ramps.
